What is Fetal Distress?
Fetal distress is a term used to describe the declining condition of a fetus during the antepartum (before labor) or intrapartum (during labor and delivery) periods. Fetal distress can be detected through ultrasound or fetal heart monitoring – either external or internal.
Fetal Distress Can Lead to Birth Injuries
Immediate intervention is needed when fetal distress is suspected such as continuous fetal monitoring, maternal position changes, IV fluids, medication, and possibly an urgent need to deliver the baby. Failure to take action by medical professionals may contribute to permanent injuries to the baby.
Did Your Child Suffer a Preventable Birth Injury Due to Fetal Distress?
If your infant was injured due to a failure to properly address signs of fetal distress, we can help. Our birth injury attorneys have attained record breaking birth injury settlements and verdicts in Minnesota. Our legal team includes highly trained medical professionals who lend on-staff expertise in both medicine and law. Our team has the experience, knowledge, and resources needed to pursue justice for our client’s losses.
