Robins Kaplan LLP served as lead defense counsel for Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (“AMD”) in patent litigation brought by Silicon Graphics, Inc. (“SGI”) in the Western District of Wisconsin, in which SGI asserted three patents covering graphics processing technology. The district court granted summary judgment of non-infringement in AMD’s favor on all three patents. The case was then appealed to the Federal Circuit, where AMD sustained two-thirds of the non-infringement issues appealed, and the case was remanded to the District Court for resolution of remaining issues as to five claims on one patent. The case resolved shortly before trial.
