Paul D. Weller
Paul D. Weller
Of Counsel
Experience
Paul Weller is a trial attorney with deep roots in the healthcare industry. As a partner in Robins Kaplan’s Health Care Litigation Group, he represents managed care organizations in complex litigation stemming from claims of fraud, improper billing, breach of contract, and other related actions.
Prior to joining Robins Kaplan, Paul held senior litigation positions at various national managed care organizations, including head of litigation, head of provider litigation, as well as special counsel to a corporate ethics committee. In those roles, he oversaw the strategic planning for hundreds of litigation matters, ranging from complex class actions to out-of-network disputes to government matters to provider fraud. He also was responsible for directing major internal investigations. He now uses the unique insights gained in the industry to provide his clients with practical, results-focused legal advice on matters of significance.
Before being recruited to go in-house, Paul served as a partner at a major global law firm. His practice focused on a wide range of commercial litigation. While there, he tried jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations.
He is a certified trial instructor by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and a certified compliance professional by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics. He has frequently been invited to speak at leading industry conferences, including the American Conference Institute, American Health Law Institute, Defense Research Institute, and the American Arbitration Association.
