Overview

Julie Moroney is in the business of righting wrongs. As a lawyer in the Civil Rights practice group, she fights for those who have been harmed by police officers, jail officials, and other government actors. Julie’s fierce advocacy is rooted in a deep sense of empathy and warmth. She sees her job as a storyteller—amplifying her clients’ stories for the world to hear and translating their stories for the legal system to understand.

Julie joined Robins Kaplan following two federal clerkships. She first clerked for Judge Ronald M. Gould in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and later for Judge Katherine M. Menendez in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. Julie leverages the insights she gained from clerking to help clients navigate the complexities of federal court proceedings.

Before clerking, Julie graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. There, she enjoyed representing clients through the Federal Appellate Litigation Clinic, working as a research and teaching assistant, and serving as an editor for the Michigan Law Review. While in law school, Julie cultivated an interest in civil rights through interning with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and Gender Justice, a Midwest-based impact litigation organization. Julie also has a deep commitment to pro bono and provided more than 100 hours of pro bono legal service in law school.
