Overview

Brent Murcia is an associate in the firm’s business litigation group who has spent his career tackling complex problems to serve his clients and the community. Before joining Robins Kaplan, he served as a judicial law clerk for Chief Judge Susan L. Segal and Judge Jeffrey M. Bryan at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. As a clerk, Brent researched and wrote on a wide range of legal issues spanning from civil litigation to criminal law, giving him a deep understanding of the life of a case through all stages of litigation.

Brent’s passion for litigation grew out of his years as an advocate for environmental justice. His experience in this field spans from legal advocacy to grassroots organizing to operating an organic vegetable farm. From this work, he understands the importance of resilience and tenacity, the value of an interdisciplinary approach to complex problems, and the persuasive power of storytelling.

Brent graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he served as Executive Editor of the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology; President of the Environmental and Energy Law Society; and a board member of the Latinx Law Students Association. As a student attorney in the Environmental and Energy Law Clinic, Brent drafted briefs and presented oral argument in a complex and high-profile proceeding before the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He was also part of a team that reached the quarterfinals of a national energy moot court competition. Demonstrating his commitment to pro bono work, Brent dedicated more than 250 hours to law-related public service while in law school.
