Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Tommy Du has been awarded the 2024 Sheila Sonenshine Associate Pro Bono Award, recognizing his exemplary dedication to pro bono work and his focus on making a meaningful impact through legal services to the community.

Tommy, a trial attorney focused on complex business and commercial litigation, has partnered with public interest organizations such as Bet Tzedek, Public Law Center, and Public Counsel. Most recently, he was a key member of the trial team that secured a sweeping victory for disabled homeless veterans in a landmark ruling that mandates significant changes at the West Los Angeles Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Campus. After a 16-day bench trial, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter ruled in favor of the veterans, compelling the VA to meet its obligations to provide housing and healthcare for thousands of veterans.

In another notable case, Tommy represented a detained asylum seeker who was fleeing violence from her home country. As a result of his representation, the asylum seeker was released from detention and allowed to legally work in the United States.
