Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Rajin Olson has been named a 2024 “Up & Coming Attorney” by Minnesota Lawyer, and business professionals Bette Brtek and Carrie Joines have been recognized as “Unsung Legal Heroes.”

The prestigious “Up & Coming Attorney” award is given to a few select lawyers within their first 10 years of practice based on their excellent and distinguishing performance. The “Unsung Legal Heroes” award is reserved for Minnesota’s most talented and dedicated legal support professionals, honoring those who have consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty, often behind the scenes.

Rajin Olson is a trial attorney specializing in patent, trade secret, and licensing matters. He has experience litigating complex technology disputes against some of the world’s largest companies, including cases involving software, mobile communications, semiconductors, and video streaming. He also maintains a pro bono immigration defense practice and serves as a Board Member for Agate Housing and Services, a Minneapolis non-profit dedicated to addressing homelessness.

Bette Brtek is a Legal Administrative Assistant who celebrated 40 years with Robins Kaplan in 2023. She supports six attorneys in the Intellectual Property & Technology and Business Litigation practice groups, playing a vital role in trial preparation and support. Bette is also instrumental in training new Administrative Assistants and advancing the firm’s appellate capabilities.

Carrie Joines is a Senior Medical Analyst in the firm’s Medical Malpractice group. With a background in adult and pediatric oncology, Carrie skillfully manages complex medical cases from initial review through trial. She was a key contributor in the recent Harty v. Sanford trial, helping to secure a multimillion-dollar verdict in a challenging venue.

Honorees will be recognized at an awards event in Minneapolis on Friday, September 20.
