Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that partners Patrick Arenz, Ronald Schutz, and Tara Sutton have once again been named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America guide, recognizing the nation’s top attorneys.
Patrick Arenz, a member of the firm’s Executive Board, specializes in handling high-stakes disputes for a broad range of clients, including small inventor-led companies, individuals, and Fortune 100 companies. His practice focuses on plaintiff-side cases involving patent and copyright infringement, rights of publicity, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, defamation, and business and individual tort matters. In 2024, Arenz secured a remarkable $42.4 million jury verdict in Willis Electric v. Polygroup, a competitor-v-competitor patent infringement case. This verdict is reported to be the largest patent jury verdict ever in the District of Minnesota and resulted in a $71.4 million final judgment. This victory also earned him his fifth recognition as “Attorney of the Year” by Minnesota Lawyer.
Ronald Schutz, a member of the firm’s Executive Board and immediate past Chair of the Board, holds the prestigious title of Fellow at the American College of Trial Lawyers, an honor limited to just 1% of trial lawyers in North America. Schutz has secured a nine-figure and multiple eight-figure jury verdicts, triumphing over industry giants like Apple, General Electric, Clear Channel, Sony, and Canon. Notable jury verdicts include $110 million in Fonar v. GE and $89 million in Grantley v. Clear Channel. His exceptional track record has earned him recognition on many top lawyer lists, including Forbes’ Top 200 Lawyers in the United States and the IAM Strategy 300: Global Leaders Guide.
Tara Sutton chairs the firm’s Mass Tort Group, focusing her practice on representing individuals, governments, and Tribal Nations harmed by defective products. She recently served as co-lead trial counsel in a groundbreaking case against CRC Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of aerosol dust remover products. The case resulted in a $7.75 million verdict and a total judgment of nearly $10.5 million. This is believed to be the first plaintiff verdict against a dust remover manufacturer. Sutton’s accomplishments have garnered recognition from various publications, including being listed in the past 10 editions of The Best Lawyers in America and repeatedly named an “Attorney of the Year” by Minnesota Lawyer. This marks her tenth consecutive year on the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America list.
