MINNEAPOLIS (August 1, 2013) – Tara Sutton, Partner and Chair of the Mass Tort Group at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P., was elected to the office of Secretary for the Public Justice Foundation.

The Public Justice Foundation is the nonprofit parent of Public Justice, a national public interest law firm dedicated to using trial lawyers' skills and resources to advance the public good.  In business for over 30 years, the organization has assembled a network of 3,000 trial attorneys from across the country dedicated to increasing access to justice, holding wrongdoers accountable and inspiring lawyers and others to serve the public interest.   Public Justice’s Access to Justice Campaign keeps the courthouse doors open to all by battling federal preemption of injury victims' rights, unfair mandatory arbitration, class action bans and abuse, unnecessary secrecy in the courts, attacks on the right to counsel and jury trial, and unconstitutional legislation.

Ms. Sutton, who represents individuals harmed by the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, first became involved with Public Justice in 2005, and has since joined numerous committees and served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.    She currently chairs a Public Justice task force examining the constitutionality of long term detention of prisoners in solitary confinement.  “I take a lot of pride in being part of Public Justice,” explains Ms. Sutton.  “I really want to help the organization as much as I possibly can, and encourage other lawyers to do the same.”  Ms. Sutton also serves on the Board of Governors for Minnesota Association of Justice and the Minneapolis Children’s Theatre.
