Tara Sutton has been named a 2015 Law360 MVP for Product Liability. This award profiles elite attorneys who have achieved great successes in high-stakes litigation, record-breaking deals and complex global matters.

Ms. Sutton focuses her trial practice on representing individuals who have been harmed by the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. Most notably, this past year she negotiated a $1.4 billion global settlement on behalf of plaintiffs in the Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII modular hip litigation, spearheading the development of the settlement program for both the multi-county litigation and the federal multi-district litigation.

The settlement provides for gross base awards of $300,000 per failed implant and provides for significant additional compensation for claimants who suffered complications during revision surgery and for other damages, including future surgeries caused by complications. The settlement also provides compensation for individuals who need a revision but are medically unable to undergo the surgery.  There is no overall cap or fixed fund for Stryker’s liability under this settlement program, and the settlement payments are expected to exceed $1 billion.

More than 850 submissions were received by Law360, and 189 attorneys from 86 firms spanning 31 practice areas were selected as honorees. To view the full list, click here
