Minneapolis Lawyer Tara Sutton

Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Lawdragon has named Tara Sutton a 2024 “Lawdragon Legend.” This exclusive list recognizes highly acclaimed attorneys who have been chosen 10 times for Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Lawyers in America” list. This year, Sutton is one of just 33 attorneys nationwide to be named a “Lawdragon Legend.”

Sutton serves as chair of the firm’s Mass Tort Group and a member of the Executive Board. With over three decades of experience, she has consistently secured victories that pave the way to recovery for thousands injured by drugs. She was recently lead trial counsel for the State of Minnesota in its lawsuit against JUUL and Altria for deceptively marketing e-cigarettes to youth, which settled for $60.5 million after three weeks of trial. She also currently serves as a lead negotiator on behalf of hundreds of Tribal governments in the Opioid multi-district litigation. To date, opioid-related settlements on behalf of tribes have surpassed $1.5 billion.

Sutton's professional achievements have earned her widespread acclaim. In 2023 alone, she was named a “Litigation Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal, a “Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation, a “Leading Practitioner in Products Liability” by Chambers USA, a “Top Woman in Law” and “Attorney of the Year” by Minnesota Lawyer, and the Mass Tort Litigation / Class Actions – Plaintiffs “Lawyer of the Year” in Minneapolis by Best Lawyers.
