Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Steve Schumeister has been recognized with the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice (TCDIP) Distinguished Service Award. TCDIP is a nonprofit association of more than 70 law firms and corporate legal departments, and this is only the second time this prestigious accolade has been awarded in TCDIP’s 19-year history.
Throughout his career, Steve Schumeister has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession through significant leadership roles and active participation in community-focused organizations. As Robins Kaplan’s immediate past managing partner, he led the firm in helping to form and grow TCDIP and served on its board from 2012 to 2024. With Schumeister’s guidance, the firm also became one of the founding members of TCDIP’s affiliate, the Wanton Injustice Legal Detail.
Schumeister serves on the Board of Trustees for the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, a role in which he is part of the decision-making body whose recent grant recipients include more than 750 organizations, 400 college scholars, and 200 preschool families. He also served on governing boards and held leadership roles with the Legal Rights Center and the Fund for the Legal Aid Society, and heads the Robins Kaplan LLP Private Foundation, exemplifying his dedication to community service, advancing social justice, and supporting underrepresented communities.
"Steve's many years of unwavering dedication to community-focused organizations have not only transformed our firm but have also had a profound impact on the broader legal community," said Anthony Froio, Chair of the Executive Board and Managing Partner at Robins Kaplan. "His tireless efforts and inspirational leadership serve as a beacon for all of us striving to create a more just and equitable society."
