Robins Kaplan LLP announced today that Brandon Vaughn, a principal in the firm’s Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice Group, has been named a 2019 Diversity Leader by Profiles in Diversity Journal. The Diversity Leader award is presented annually to both the organizations that have supported advancements in diversity and inclusion and to the diversity officers who have helped their organization achieve success. Vaughn is one of just 24 honorees selected from a nationwide pool of candidates.
Now in its 21st year, Profiles in Diversity Journal recognizes “the individuals and teams within organizations who create, develop, and promote strategies and initiatives that support diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace and the larger community.”
Vaughn’s commitment to enhancing diversity in the profession is reflected in his leadership within the firm and as an active member of organizations devoted to the issue. Vaughn spent the past year and a half serving as co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee and recently was named chair of its Recruiting/Hiring Committee. In those roles, Brandon has worked to improve the firm’s ability to attract, recruit, retain, and advance diverse attorneys. He also successfully increased Robins Kaplan’s participation in a clerkship program offered by the non-profit Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program, which seeks to improve the diversity pipeline for women attorneys of color, establish metrics to measure firm diversity efforts, and provide mentoring and career counseling to women, associates of color, and law students. Outside of the firm, he was selected as a fellow for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), a program established to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. He has also taken leadership roles in numerous professional organizations, including Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, the Hennepin County Bar Association, and the Young Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association
This is the third year in a row that Robins Kaplan has been recognized for this award. Last year, Kellie Lerner, co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee, was recognized as a Diversity Leader. In 2017, the publication selected Chief Talent and Diversity Officer Chandra Kilgriff.
This year’s Diversity Leader award winners will be featured in a special winter edition of Profiles in Diversity Journal.
