[ATLANTA, GEORGIA] - April 7, 2011 - Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. and Atlanta Legal Aid Society announce the creation of a pro bono fellowship position. Through this fellowship, the private law firm will be sponsoring an attorney at Legal Aid's downtown office. This partnership offers the law firm a unique way to provide pro bono service while it offers the nonprofit the ability to maintain its staffing levels.
Steve Gottlieb, Atlanta Legal Aid's executive director, sees this as a new way law firms can provide much-needed help to Legal Aid. "Firms can directly support one of our great staff attorneys. This is a wonderful way they can help us continue to provide legal services that protect clients against domestic violence, foreclosures, and illegal evictions."
Ms. Jordan, who has worked with Atlanta Legal Aid Society since January 2003 as a staff attorney and managing attorney, focuses her practice on family law, handling individual client casework as well as supervising the work of attorneys and paralegals in the Downtown Family Law Unit. She also manages Atlanta Legal Aid Society's Family Law Taskforce, which provides training and legal information support for the organization's family law work.
Ms. Jordan is the co-chair of the Public Interest/Non-Profit Section of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. She is also a member of the Atlanta Bar Association Family Law Section, the State Bar of Georgia Family Law Section and the American Bar Association. Ms. Jordan earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from the Emory University School of Law.
