Presented by Tubman, a Minnesota nonprofit organization

MINNEAPOLIS - Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. is the recipient of the 2009 "Law Firm of the Year" award, presented by Tubman, a Minnesota nonprofit organization promoting safe and healthy families, individuals and communities through evidence-based intervention, prevention and education.  This is the second year in a row that the firm has been honored with this award.

Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. received this year's award for its leadership and contributions to Tubman's Pro Bono Safety Project, which provides quality pro bono legal representation to low-income victims of domestic violence seeking Orders for Protection (OFP) who need legal assistance.  Through this program, legal advocates at domestic abuse agencies refer clients to Tubman where they are screened and put in contact with volunteer attorneys to represent them in OFP hearings.  Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. is one of 16 law firms who participate in this program.

"Ensuring that the justice system is open to everyone, regardless of economic or social status, has been a long-standing value at our firm," said Anne Lockner, Chair of the firm's Pro Bono Committee.  "We are honored to be able to work with Tubman and make a difference in the lives of these women and children."

The award was presented on October 22, 2009 at the volunteer recognition ceremony.
