Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Raoul Shah has been named New Volunteer Attorney of the Year by Tubman, a nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of services to those facing relationship violence, exploitation, and other forms of trauma.
Raoul was recognized for his work with Tubman’s Safety Project, a program offering free legal representation to low-income victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. In addition to providing direct representation, Raoul is also a part of the Tubman Safety Project Advisory Council.
“It is a great privilege to represent such strong clients who, despite enduring some of life’s most difficult challenges, continue to fight for themselves and their children,” he said.
Raoul is an attorney in the firm’s Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice Groups. With significant trial and litigation experience, he combines a collaborative, creative approach with a strong courtroom presence to achieve meaningful results for his clients. Before joining Robins Kaplan, Raoul served as an Assistant Hennepin County Attorney, where he prosecuted felony crimes, specializing in crimes against children, and advocated for victims' rights. He is grateful for the opportunity to continue this public service, now directly representing survivors and victims, through the Tubman Safety Project.
Committed to helping those in need, Raoul was named a “North Star Lawyer” by the Minnesota State Bar Association for providing at least 50 hours of pro bono legal service in 2023. He has also been named an “Up & Coming Attorney” by Minnesota Lawyer and was recently recognized in the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch.
