Patrick M. Arenz of Robins Kaplan LLP in Minneapolis and New York was inducted as a Fellow into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (the Academy) at the organization’s 2025 Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, March 26-30.

The Academy is a fellowship of lawyers with a singular mission—to protect and promote the Rule of Law. Founded in 1954, the Academy consists of the best trial lawyers as measured by skill, experience, ethics and civility. It represents both sides of the trial bar: prosecutors and defense lawyers in criminal cases; plaintiff and defense counsel in civil litigation.

"Patrick represents the rare combination of intellectual horsepower and courtroom instinct that truly separates exceptional trial lawyers from merely good ones," said Anthony Froio, Chair of the Executive Board and Managing Partner at Robins Kaplan. "His ability to deconstruct complex technical arguments and reassemble them into compelling narratives that resonate with judges and juries is an incredible skill and talent."

Named a five-time Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer and recognized as one of Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Lawyers in America, Arenz represents a broad range of clients from individuals to Fortune 100 companies. He is also passionate about ensuring access to justice for all, not just those who can afford it. Under his leadership of Robins Kaplan’s Pro Bono Committee, The American Lawyer ranked the firm as having the fourth-best pro bono program in the country.

The Academy includes 500 active trial lawyers in the United States as well as Fellows from 30 other countries. Fellowship in the Academy is by invitation only. Trial lawyers become Fellows only after a rigorous vetting process, which includes both peer and judicial review. They must have distinguished themselves through careers defined by exceptional trial skills, professionalism, and integrity. Most Fellows are heavily involved in pro bono efforts and generously contribute time and resources to their local communities and beyond.
