LOS ANGELES—September 21, 2016—Robins Kaplan LLP® is pleased to announce that Roman Silberfeld, partner and national trial chair of the firm, has been named to the Daily Journal’s “Leading Lawyers” list. This annual award honors California-based attorneys doing the most cutting-edge legal work in the industry. Only 100 attorneys were recognized on this year’s list.
Mr. Silberfeld, who served as the firm’s managing partner in Los Angeles for two decades, has earned more than 50 trial victories, including the biggest award ever granted in a Hollywood accounting lawsuit ($319 million with interest) over profits from ABC’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” The Daily Journal called Mr. Silberfeld’s victory over The Walt Disney Company “a shock to the system” in Hollywood accounting suits.
The Daily Journal highlighted Mr. Silberfeld’s successful representation of Best Buy Co. Inc. against a number of electronics manufacturers, including LCD flat-panel manufacturer Toshiba for fixing the prices of their devices. Mr. Silberfeld’s profile describes his work as “complex business litigation,” and notes his passion for taking a “very complicated mass of information and presenting it not only in a simple, straightforward way, but one that is compelling and persuasive.”
Mr. Silberfeld sits on the Board of Directors of the exclusive International Academy of Trial Lawyers as well as Public Counsel, the nation’s largest pro bono law organization, and has repeatedly served as court-appointed lead counsel and chair of court-appointed litigation committees in multiparty and complex litigation. He is also a member of the Commission for Impartial Courts, dedicated to preserving judicial independence in California, and sits on the Board of Visitors and Executive Committee of the National Judicial College.
