Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Michael Collyard and Ronald Schutz have once again been named to Minnesota Lawyer’s Power 30: Business Litigation list, recognizing the most influential business litigators in the state.
According to Minnesota Lawyer, the Power 30 highlights those “whose mere presence on a case signifies the stakes, who have influenced the direction of the law, whose leadership in the community is pervasive, and whose respect within the bar is undeniable.”
Michael Collyard is an elected member of the firm’s Executive Board and chairs the firm’s Banking and Financial Fraud Litigation Group and Ediscovery Group. He is a highly skilled trial lawyer who has successfully served as lead counsel on multi-billion-dollar cases on both sides of the “v.” In 2022, he secured a landmark $564 million jury verdict – exceeding $1 billion with interest – in one of the largest Ponzi scheme cases in U.S. history. This verdict is the largest ever in Minnesota history. In 2023, he obtained a $28 million settlement for the Receiver of Education Corporation of America (ECA) in a case against ECA’s former officers and directors for alleged breaches of fiduciary duties.
Ronald Schutz is the immediate past chairman of the firm’s Executive Board and holds the distinguished title of Fellow at the American College of Trial Lawyers, the preeminent organization of trial lawyers in North America.
