July 5, 2011 - Melissa D'Alelio, attorney in the firm's Boston office, was recently appointed Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association's (ABA) TIPS Property Insurance Law General Committee for the 2011-2012 fiscal year. According to the ABA, this leadership appointment is a clear recognition of Ms. D'Alelio's professional abilities and reputation among the organizations 25,671 members.
The Property Insurance Law General Committee focuses on the law of first-party property insurance coverage, which includes physical damage, boiler and machinery, business income and interruption, extra expense, homeowners, inland marine, and ocean marine insurance. Committee members, many of which are lawyers specializing in property insurance coverage, research the issues that arise in cases involving coverage losses under property insurance contracts, including appraisal, subrogation, and causation, among others.
In her practice, Ms. D'Alelio advises insurance clients in all aspects of general liability and property coverage, and also defends insurance clients against extracontractual liability claims. She has handled insurance defense, subrogation, and business litigation matters. Ms. D'Alelio attended Northeastern University School of Law and studied English and Political Science at Mount Holyoke College.
