New York, NY—December 2, 2014—Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. is pleased to announce that the American Antitrust Institute (AAI) has honored K. Craig Wildfang and Meegan Hollywood in the national 2014 Antitrust Enforcement Awards.
K. Craig Wildfang, partner and co-chair of the firm’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Group, was named a winner in the “Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Law Practice” category for his groundbreaking success in In re Payment Card Interchange Fee and Merchant Discount Litigation. AAI also awarded him honorable mention in the same category for his notable work in Dahl v. Bain Capital Partners, LLC. Additionally, associate Meegan Hollywood was honored as a finalist in the “Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement by a Young Lawyer” category for her role in In re Air Cargo Shipping Services Antitrust Litigation.
Mr. Wildfang led the enormous effort on behalf of a plaintiff class in In re Payment Card Interchange Fee and Merchant Discount Litigation, a case involving antitrust claims against Visa, MasterCard, and Visa- and MasterCard-issuing banks. This year, he secured final approval of a historic $7.25 billion settlement—the largest known settlement of a private antitrust case in the 120-year history of the Sherman Act.
In Dahl v. Bain Capital Partners, LLC, Mr. Wildfang represents plaintiffs alleging a conspiracy among the nation’s largest private equity funds to restrain competition in leveraged buyouts. Plaintiffs recently reached settlements with all seven remaining defendants for a combined recovery of almost $600 million.
AAI honored Ms. Hollywood for her lead associate role in In re Air Cargo Shipping Services Antitrust Litigation, where she represents direct purchasers of airfreight shipping services who were harmed by a global conspiracy to inflate the prices charged to ship goods. Nearly $1 billion in partial settlements has been recovered for plaintiffs thus far, and in October, Magistrate Judge Viktor V. Pohorelsky (E.D.N.Y.) recommended the certification of a direct purchaser class in this case.
