Minneapolis Lawyer Brandon Vaughn

Minneapolis, MN—April 19, 2017—Robins Kaplan LLP® is pleased to announce that Brandon Vaughn has been appointed co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

“Brandon’s long-standing commitment to increasing diversity in the profession is inspiring,” said Kellie Lerner, partner and co-chair of Robins Kaplan’s Diversity Committee. “As a veteran member of Robins Kaplan’s Diversity Committee and a recognized leader on diversity and inclusion, he is an ideal champion of our ongoing work in this area.”

Vaughn’s commitment to enhancing diversity in the profession is reflected in his leadership of national and regional organizations devoted to the issue. Most recently, he was elected secretary of the Young Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association, the largest and oldest organization of black judges, lawyers, and law students. For the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers, he has served as a delegate on the Hennepin County Bar Association Board of Directors. While maintaining a demanding trial practice, Vaughn also recently completed four years on the executive leadership board of Twin Cities Diversity in Practice Young Lawyers Board, where he recruited leaders from private law firms and corporate legal departments to mentor attorneys of color. In addition, he was selected to the inaugural, 75-member class of the Collaborative Bar Leadership Academy, a national initiative to strengthen the pipeline of diverse bar association leaders.

Named a principal at Robins Kaplan this year, Vaughn was previously appointed to Robins Kaplan’s Diversity, Mentoring, and Hiring committees before today’s announcement. Vaughn successfully increased Robins Kaplan’s participation in a clerkship program offered by the nonprofit Twin Cities Diversity in Practice and regularly provides career counseling to associates of color and other young attorneys. Among his many other volunteer efforts, Vaughn is involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters and participates annually in workshops for Just the Beginning Foundation’s Summer Legal Institute for high school students in the Twin Cities.

Vaughn represents plaintiffs in personal injury, medical malpractice, and product liability actions, frequently advocating for those harmed by the medical system. Named a 2016 “Up and Coming Attorney” by Minnesota Lawyer, he dedicates pro bono time in support of equal access to justice for all individuals.
