Attorneys Named to Euromoney’s Americas Rising Stars’ Shortlist

Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that attorneys Christopher Pinahs, Patrick Arenz, and Aaron Fahrenkrog have been included in Euromoney’s 2019 Americas Rising Stars’ shortlist. The award recognizes attorneys across various practice areas who are under the age of 40 on October 1, 2019.

Christopher Pinahs – Best in Life Sciences

Concentrating his practice on patent litigation in both federal courts and the PTAB, Chris represents clients in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and agricultural industries. Chris’ trial experience includes several significant cases in the health and life sciences industry, including the representation of a generic manufacturer in its challenge of several patents directed to Purdue’s multibillion-dollar OxyContin® product. Notably, Chris recently argued and won a motion to dismiss for Collegium Pharmaceutical, obtaining the rare result of a bench ruling that completely resolved the Hatch-Waxman matter in his client’s favor. Chris also routinely works with the James H. Binger Center for New Americans, and successfully acquired federal habeas relief for a non-citizen earlier this year. 

Patrick Arenz – Best in Litigation: Trial Lawyer

Patrick Arenz is a trial lawyer who handles high-stakes disputes for a diverse set of clients, ranging from Fortune 100 companies to small inventor-led companies and individuals. His practice focuses on patent and copyright infringement matters, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract disputes, and business and individual tort cases. In five separate enforcement efforts for inventor-led companies, he has secured eight-figure licensing revenues for each client. Most recently, he served as co-lead trial counsel in Covidien v. Esch in which a federal jury in the District of Massachusetts held the defendant, a former Covidien employee, liable for breaching his contracts with Covidien by disclosing and using confidential information to start his own company. Patrick also recently tried and won what is believed to be the first civil jury verdict in a sex tourism case, in which a federal jury awarded $950,000 to a survivor of sexual assault for an assault that took place in Laos by a U.S. citizen.

Aaron Fahrenkrog – Best in Patent

Aaron Fahrenkrog, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology Group, represents both plaintiffs and defendants in all aspects of patent enforcement and monetization, from initial portfolio strategy and evaluation through licensing negotiations, litigation, trial, and appeal. In recent years, his work has focused on semiconductor and computing technologies; he has litigated patents covering the entire computing spectrum from the most basic level of transistor construction to the technology required to display content onscreen. His past cases have seen him prepare damage models exceeding a billion dollars, and he has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in patent litigation. In his most recent matter, ATI v. Iancu, Fahrenkrog represented ATI in a complex patent litigation matter that was ultimately decided in his client’s favor at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, reversing the PTAB.
