Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that partners Annie Huang and Rayna Kessler have been selected for inclusion in Crain's New York Business’s 7th annual Notable Women in Law list. The list honors “dedicated, gifted, and determined” lawyers in New York, recognizing both their achievements in the legal profession and their contributions to their communities.
Huang, deputy managing partner of the firm’s New York office, focuses her practice on protecting intellectual property rights including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets through litigation, counseling, and licensing. Her experience encompasses a wide range of industries and markets including consumer electronics, medical devices, variable data printing, window frame technology, and pharmaceuticals. She has served as trial counsel and been a member of multiple trial teams in district courts and the International Trade Commission that resulted in favorable outcomes for her clients.
A leader in numerous legal and affinity organizations, she was recently appointed a Vice Chair of the Women’s Committee by the Asian American Bar Association of New York. She also devotes substantial time to pro bono representation and has served as trial counsel for individuals seeking political asylum before the Immigration Court. Huang has been previously recognized as a “Notable Diverse Leader in Law” by Crain’s New York Business.
Kessler focuses her practice on complex civil and multivenue litigation in a range of matters that span products liability, mass tort, medical malpractice, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and child sex abuse involving large institutions. She is known for trailblazing new litigation, often being among the first to file in emerging mass tort litigations. In representing those injured by defective medical devices and pharmaceutical drugs, Kessler was recently court-appointed as MDL Liaison Counsel in the multi-district litigation In re: Exactech Orthopedic Products Liability Litigation.
Kessler serves as an executive committee board member and chair of the Case Development/Special Projects Committee for Public Justice, a national nonprofit legal advocacy organization. She is also a founding board member of Collective Liberty, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating human trafficking. Based on her achievements, Kessler was recently named to Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers” guide.
