The Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) makes it unlawful for anyone to manipulate-or try to manipulate- the price of a nationally traded commodity. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which regulates commodity futures and options markets, has significantly increased its enforcement filings and investigations of alleged instances of market manipulation in the last two years.
