Robins Kaplan is a member of the court-appointed plaintiffs’ steering committee in antitrust class action against the largest owners of local television stations in the United States, with revenues exceeding $28 billion. In July of 2018, Robins Kaplan filed a groundbreaking lawsuit that put the FCC’s deregulatory agenda on trial, accusing defendants of engaging in a scheme to artificially inflate advertisement prices in violation of federal antitrust law. This was one of the first complaints filed following the Department of Justice’s investigation into potential antitrust violations in local television ad sales. In January of 2019, Robins Kaplan was appointed to the two-firm plaintiff steering committee. Litigation remains ongoing.
