We recruit and hire former clerks from federal district and circuit courts throughout the country. One thing I think is really important for clerks to keep in mind in coming to a place like Robins Kaplan is this. When I walked in the federal courthouse every day, above the lobby was the phrase “Equal Justice Under Law”. And so, my judge who was a former marine, made a big deal out of trying to live by that, and trying to use that in how he approached everything, every day.
Now Robins Kaplan is a firm that was founded by two Jewish lawyers more than 80 years ago that couldn't get hired anywhere else in Minneapolis because of anti-semitism. And so this idea of fighting for justice, fighting for equal access to justice, undergirds everything that we do here.
Whether we're defending massive corporations, we’re defending individuals who have been wronged, whether we're fighting for the rights of plaintiffs who have been injured or hurt by the biggest companies in the world… if you have that sense of wanting to be part of a team, part of the fight for something bigger than yourself, if some of that seed was planted in you while you were clerking and you're looking for a place to continue it, this is the place where you want to be.
